Overview
Recently, NSFOCUS CERT found that VMware has officially fixed multiple security vulnerabilities in VMware vRealize Log Insight. Under default configuration conditions, unauthenticated attackers exploit the following key vulnerabilities in combination, and finally achieve arbitrary code execution with ROOT privileges on the target system. These vulnerabilities have been successfully verified by international security teams, and affected users are requested to take protective measures as soon as possible.
The key vulnerabilities are as follows:
VMware vRealize Log Insight Remote Code Execution Vulnerability (CVE-2022-31704)
Due to an access control flaw in vRealize Log Insight, an unauthenticated remote attacker could inject a malicious file into the operating system of an affected device, resulting in arbitrary code execution on the target system with a CVSS score of 9.8.
VMware vRealize Log Insight Directory Traversal Vulnerability (CVE-2022-31706)
Due to a directory traversal vulnerability in vRealize Log Insight, an unauthenticated remote attacker could inject a file into the operating system of an affected device, resulting in arbitrary code execution on the target system, with a CVSS score of 9.8.
VMware vRealize Log Insight Information Disclosure Vulnerability (CVE-2022-31711)
A CVSS score of 5.3 due to an information disclosure vulnerability in vRealize Log Insight that could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to collect sensitive session and application information.
