Feature Adaptations on Slave ADSM in a High Availability Environment

Sometimes, to ensure continuous business operations in the event of equipment failure, it is a common practice to configure High Availability (HA) using two ADSM devices. You can configure High Availability (HA) in ADSM by navigating to Administration > Local Settings > HA Configuration.

Master:

Slave:

The master handles all services and periodically synchronizes heartbeat information and real-time status to the slave. The slave does not process any data but only acts as a backup. When the master device fails, the slave device takes over the work of the master device immediately to process the traffic data to ensure the normal use of the user’s business to the maximum extent.

Thus, it is normal that some functionalities are only available on the active master ADSM.

1. Configuration related to High Availability (HA). Only on the master device can select the HA Sync File Configuration.

2. Remote Assistance Configuration. Only the master device can use the Remote Assistance function to allow the NSFOCUS support team to enter the product backend.

3. Traffic diversion of the Slave ADSM Portal. The Traffic Diversion function of the Slave ADSM Portal cannot be used as traffic is handled on the master ADSM.
