Security Management – Hackers stole at least 500 million Yahoo users’ account information in a breach two years ago, the company confirmed in an announcement Thursday afternoon. User information—including names, email addresses, telephone numbers, birth dates, passwords, and in some cases security questions—was compromised in the breach, which occurred in 2014. “The ongoing investigation suggests that stolen information did not include unprotected passwords, payment card data, or bank account information,” Yahoo said in a statement. “Payment card data and bank account information are not stored in the system that the investigation has found to be affected.”
