Overview
Recently, NSFOCUS CERT found that Strapi has officially issued a security notice, which fixes several Strapi security vulnerabilities. Due to a flaw in the Strapi system, when there are any entries created or updated by super administrator users on publicly accessed entries, attackers can execute arbitrary code on the target system by combining the vulnerabilities of CVE-2023-22894 and CVE-2023-22621. Please take measures to protect the affected users as soon as possible.
Strapi Information Disclosure Vulnerability (CVS 2023-22894):
There is an information leakage vulnerability in Strapi, which allows unauthenticated attackers to hijack the Strapi administrator account and gain access to the Strapi super administrator by leaking a password reset token and changing the administrator password.
Strapi Remote Code Execution Vulnerability (CVS 2023-22621):
There is a server-side template injection (SSTI) vulnerability in Strpi, which allows attackers with super administrator privileges to bypass the verification check of the function isValidEmailTemplate by injecting malicious payloads into email templates, ultimately enabling the execution of arbitrary code on the target system.
