Recently, Cisco Talos published several technical analysis reports, claiming that Aspose.cells and Aspose.words in Aspose products contain remote code execution vulnerabilities, which can be exploited via a maliciously crafted file to result in remote code execution.

The LabelSst record parser of the Aspose.Cells library is prone to an out-of-bounds read vulnerability, which can be exploited via a specially crafted XLS file to result in remote code execution. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires users to perform desired operations.

This vulnerability is similar to CVE-2019-5032, but stems from the Number record parser.

Aspose.Words Code Execution Vulnerability


The EnumMetaInfo function in the Aspose Aspose.Words library, version, contains an exploitable stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability. A specially crafted .doc file can cause a stack-based buffer overflow, resulting in remote code execution. An attacker needs to provide a malformed file to the victim to trigger this vulnerability.
