{"id":1515,"date":"2018-08-13T16:38:51","date_gmt":"2018-08-13T16:38:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.nsfocusglobal.com\/?p=1515"},"modified":"2018-08-13T16:38:51","modified_gmt":"2018-08-13T16:38:51","slug":"brief-analysis-and-solution-virus-infection-shuts-down-tsmc-factories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nsfocusglobal.com\/pt-br\/brief-analysis-and-solution-virus-infection-shuts-down-tsmc-factories\/","title":{"rendered":"Brief Analysis and Solution | Virus Infection Shuts Down TSMC Factories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is the world\u2019s largest dedicated semiconductor and processor manufactor, manufacturing processors and other chips for the world\u2019s largest science and technology companies including Apple, AMD, NVDIA and Qualcomm.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the evening of August 3, 2018, Beijing time, a technician\u2019s improper operation during software installation caused the virus infection in the intranet, leading to production disruption in some TSMC factories.<\/li>\n<li>On August 4, 2018, Beijing time, the NSFOCUS security team had their concern on this event.<\/li>\n<li>At 14:00, August 5, 2018, Beijing time, 80% of the affected systems resumed operation.<\/li>\n<li>In the evening of August 5, 2018, Beijing time, TSMC released a statement, briefly describing the impact of the infection and expecting full recovery on August 6.&nbsp;\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.nsfocusglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/TSMC-details-impact.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1517 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.nsfocusglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/TSMC-details-impact-1024x263.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>In the afternoon of August 6, 2018, Beijing time, the production line was fully recovered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to TSMC, it has been determined that the infected virus is a variant of WannaCryptor (aka WannaCry).<\/p>\n<h1>WannaCry Attack Theory<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.nsfocusglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/WannaCry-Attack-Theory.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1520 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.nsfocusglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/WannaCry-Attack-Theory.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"732\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>WannaCry attacks mainly by scanning the computer\u2019s 445 port (related to the SMB service), conducting payload attacks using the leaked NSA tool (mainly exploiting the Microsoft SMB vulnerability MS17-010), and then injecting and executing ransomware.<\/p>\n<h1>TAMC Reported Impacts<\/h1>\n<ol>\n<li>Confidential information was not compromised.<\/li>\n<li>Shipment will be delayed.<\/li>\n<li>The loss is estimated to $256 million.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1>Detection, Prevention and Remediation<\/h1>\n<h2>Detection and Prevention<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Since the attack exploits Microsoft&#8217;s official SMB vulnerability (MS17-010), enable Windows Firewall and disable port 445 to organize external connections, and check whether the corresponding patches released by Microsoft have been installed in the system. network, and determine whether to format the disk and reinstall the system, remove virus, or take other measures based on the importance of encrypted files.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You can refer to the following steps for virus removal: kill tasksche.exe, mssecsvc.exe, and the processes related to the framed executable files.<a
